TEIGMO WILDERNESS PROGRAMME

The Teigmo wilderness programme is
designed to get you to know your inner self better, break personal
barriers
and see new and other ways to manage tasks and problems. It is designed
to try
making people solve problems in different ways and communicate in other
ways than they normally do.
It is based on physical activity, healthy lifestyle, use of nature and
interaction with common companion animals. The use of the sami culture
as an arena is central.
The participants are challendged to destabilize their systems as they
are taken into the wilderness and given new roles that they are not
used to.
Through mastering these new and unfamiliar situations the participants
are asked to take the narrative perspective and tell a new story; a new
story of the person that left civilization, entered the wilderness and
came back with a new story: With new experiences and as - hopefully, a
new and better person.
The sami way of thinking is central as is your own feeling of growth
through mastering. The sami way of behaving and conduct is emphasized
as is the respect the participant has to show the nature and the
animals participating
in the challenge.
Nature is absolute - as are the huskies and horses we use. They do not
compromize.
The encounter with nature and animals is used as a metaphore for what
the participant will meet in his or hers own life or their own
struggle.
The programme is abbreviated Na Cu Heal: nature - Culture - Health as
illustrated in our logo: It illustrates the traditional sami tent:
Instead of an open fire there is an electrone orbiting an atome: This
symbolizes modern knowledge in old culture giving warmth .
The doctor uses his skills as a Spesialist in general practice and
family medicine only as a means of reflection. In 3 days the
participants are challenged in topics that might be used as a link to
their daily living
